Canoes are very popular for outings because they are relatively small and lightweight. They can easily be tied to most roof racks. Getting close to nature with a canoe is easy because they do not require a noisy engine which would scare most animals away. Because of their size you can access may lakes and rivers not accessible to larger boats.
Canoes require little maintenance because of their simplicity and thus are great for those who have little time. Some models can accomodate a small outboard motor on the transom.
